Bike Over, Ferry Back: Don’t Miss A Ride Across the Golden Gate Bridge

Details

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world’s greatest bike rides, but it’s just one of the terrific rides you can take to explore the best of San Francisco. It’s especially useful to find out about the recommended easy, flat and scenic routes that Bike and Roll know so well.

Join them on a guided bike ride or stop in at one of the six locations to get your wheels for the day.

Where to find us

Get the maximum fun for the minimum effort when you rent a bike anytime after 8 a.m. seven days a week.

Four handy rental shops are scattered around Fisherman’s Wharf, including one right at the pier where the Red & White Fleet ferry boats pull up. Find it on your GPS at Pier 43.5, right on the waterfront right at the intersection of Embarcadero and Taylor Street. Three more Fisherman’s Wharf locations include 520 Beach Street, 353 Jefferson Street and 2800 Leavenworth Street.

You can also get a bike at 5 Embarcadero Center, near the Hyatt Hotel, a few minutes’ walk from the Ferry Building. From here, hop onto the Golden Gate Bridge, bike along the waterfront’s Barbary Coast or pop into the city.

Start your day with an espresso, or get some great pizza and pasta when you rent from Bike and Roll at 899 Columbus Avenue in the heart of North Beach.

Escorted tours

Bike and Roll guides are ready for you by 10 a.m. for the memorable ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, a do-not-miss experience that everyone of all ages can enjoy. The experienced local guides will show you all the best spots for photos and tell you lots more. Bike and Roll suggests, “whether you have been here 20 years or 20 minutes, a Bike And Roll guided tour is sure to be your best day in San Francisco.”

Your downhill adventure into Sausalito is made all the more enjoyable by knowing that your return to San Francisco is on the water, via one of the best ferry boat rides in the world.

Pick a bike

How many hills would you care to tackle? Whatever your age, ability or athleticism, there’s a perfect bike waiting for you. Every bike in the fleet is replaced with brand new every single year, so the rolling stock is always tip-top. Choose economy class, sports class, advanced class, pro class, racing bike, professional racing bike, mountain bike, full suspension mountain bike, kids bike, tag-a-long or kids trailer.

What’s included

Each bike has a rear rack with a strap to carry luggage, water bottle holder, bell, kickstand, helmet, lock and map are all included as standard on your rental bike. Just bring a credit card and I.D. and you’re on your way.

A word about the weather

We love it when the fog rolls in, and we also love it when the fog rolls back out again. The best suggestion is that to be prepared for quirky San Francisco micro-climates with sunglasses and sunscreen as well as an extra jacket, since the bottom line is...we never know.
